Changing T-shirt Yarn Color - 2 Ways

Abbreviations

Yo – yarn over

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

Fo – fasten off

1st Way – just like in a regular patterns

Insert hook into next ch

Wrap new color around hook, as shown, then pull new color through

You should have 3 loops on hook if doing dc

Complete double crochet as normal and continue with project.

2nd Way - Only used with t-shirt yarn or when making rag rug from fabric

I’m demonstrating with 2 yarn balls – the grey would actually be from your project & the white your new color you’re changing too.

Leave about a 6 – 12 inch tail from the previous color (grey)

Open up the previous color and insert the new color as shown.

Cover up the old color with the new and continue with your project. This way there is no ends to weave in or knots in the back of your project.
