Eyeglass Case Tutorial
Materials
- fabric, at least 8 x 9 for inside
- solid 7.5 x 8.5 fabric for the outide (this gives you plenty of room for mistakes or sewing your endges)
- fabric for handle 12 x 4 (optional)
- zipper 4 - 5 inches
- scissors
- measuring tape
- inside & outside thread ( I will explain)
Step 1
Chose your fabric for the inside and outside. I cut my inside piece to be 9 x 8. The outside fabric should be at least 1/2 inch larger on all sides. For this project I am making a patchwork case.
Steps 2 & 3
After your sew your fabric to the layout you want sew a top layer of colored thread that will show through to give some extra security to your design. Cut the patchwork at least 1/2" bigger around all sides to sew.
From this point cut both pieces of fabric in half.
Step 4
Sew your strap. This is really a prefereance. I chose a long wnough piece of material to cut in half so that I could sew in a clasp for attaching the eye case anywhere.
Step 5
Place the patchwork fabric over teh solid fabric for each side. Fold over the ends where you will place your zipper and pin this area. Pin in your zipper and sew with machine.
Step 6
After your zipper is sewn in connect the 2 pieces of inside fabric together and the same for the outside fabric wrong side facing you. Leave about 3 - 4 inches of fabric unsewn on 1 side to turn the fabric rightside out.
Step 7
Turn your fabric right side out, fold your open end in and sew it closed... Voila!!!! You're done!
